YOU TUBE VIDEO: TYPE IN WENDELL HOOKER BRANCH SITTING IN WITH BLAQUE VELVET

Wendell has a short story to tell about when he took a leave of absence from the music industry and what occurred when he came back that required strength, patience and faith.

Wendell is a native of Hampton, Virginia and is a dedicated percussionists. He appreciates all types of music; however, the genre of music that touches his soul is Jazz. He plays with so much heart and he savors every beat and every musical note to accomplish the sound he desires.

When he returned to the Hampton Roads Area in 2007 he played with several bands.

Unfortunately in 2012 Wendell injured his hand in an accident. His attitude was always positive and kept his faith strong in God. His wife Diane was there beside him through it all.

He never doubted at any moment that he would not be able to play again. As you know, sometimes an extensive hand injury; your hand doesn't fully heal. About one year after his accident working diligently to get his hand better, he decided to perform with a local band. While performing, his hand would swell. He would push through to finish his last set. Wendell would do hand exercises with weights to make his hand stronger. He would wrap his hand with ice packs when his hand would swell after playing a gig. He would push through these agonizing episodes of pain.Wendell was determined this situation would not stop him.He would take a break between gigs to work on his hand. This went on for a period of time. But through the grace of God, continued rehabilitating his hand with hand weights, ice packs, taking breaks from performing, Wendell over came the injury and has performed with Blaque Velvet recently.

This story is about not giving up when the future appears to be bleak. Keep striving and keep hope alive.

We give all the Glory to our Heavenly Father.
